A Day at Jakira

What a barrier-free day on Quesnel Lake can look like — from the first roll onto the dock to the last light on the water.

A note for the Jakira team: this is an illustrative picture of the fully-equipped experience we're raising funds to create — not a current offering or a specific guest's testimonial. Replace it with real guest stories (with each guest's permission) as your seasons unfold. Duplicate this page for each new story.

Picture the day we're working toward. The Cariboo morning is cool and still. At the water's edge, an accessible dock leads down to the pontoon — no steep drop-offs, no transfers to negotiate. You roll aboard in your own chair, settle in, and the guide casts off.

Onto the water

Quesnel Lake opens up ahead, ringed by forest and mountains. The pontoon's stable hull keeps everything steady as your guide — trained in adaptive recreation and medical safety — points out where the wild rainbow trout have been running.

The catch

With specialized gripping tackle holding the rod secure and an electronic reel doing the heavy work, the fight is yours to enjoy. When a big rainbow finally comes to the boat, it's every bit the trophy — landed entirely on your terms, with adaptive gear built for exactly this moment.

Back at the cabin

Later, back at the cabin, there's nothing to work around: a roll-in shower, lowered counters, and calm, sensory-friendly spaces to unwind in. Just the quiet of the backcountry and the satisfaction of a day spent living without limits.

That's the vision behind everything we're building — and the reason we need your support to get there. Adventure knows no bounds, and the Cariboo wild belongs to everyone.
